It is now easier to get your computer recognize all the external devices your computer has and to check out all those digital devices connected with your computer, go to the start menu and select the option named Devices and Printers. It will open up a nice looking visual display of whatever internal or external devices your computer is connected with.

How to use the Device stage:

When you first start this option by clicking on devices & printers option and the window with all the connected devices appears, you will notice that there is an option through which you can click on a message which enables you in getting the device information from the web. Clicking on the option will keep the devices updated with their respective drivers and the recent and important information about them. The coolest part of it is that if you plug in any device for the first time, windows7 will install its drivers almost immediately without any error message you can check the Microsoft tech supportsite for more information.

After you plug in the device, you will be able to view its icon on the taskbar. You can hover your mouse over it to see a good looking image of the device accompanied by some limited but useful information. For instance, if you plug in a creative Zen and are able to see how much space and battery life is left in it. You also have the option of right clicking on the device to access some of the controls associated with the device as well. You can now click on this device to get presented with a control panel, which is easy to navigate, and contains the features that allow you to manage the device' settings and its features.

If you connect a printer to your computer and open the devices and printers option, you will be able to see the printer in a window with its details and the options which allow you to see what is printing currently, customize the printer, and manage its profiles and functions and so on. It's up to the manufacturer of the hardware to settle on if the device is going to be compatible with the device stage option and the simplest way to determine whether the device is compatible or not is plugging in the device and seeing if device stage option is opening up and showing the device on its window. Almost all of the newer devices plugged in with the computer should be recognized by the device stage but the features many vary from device to device as some will be displayed with more features for managing than the others. The new feature of windows 7 is a good way of getting your connected devices working without thee to have the drivers installed. Cool feature indeed!
